If you are like us and fancy the drive then here is how we do it.
The drive is 474 miles by road from Calais. The route we use is via
ROUEN as this avoids PARIS. The total drive time is about 8-9 hours from
Calais on what we consider to be excellent Toll roads.
We find that using the Toll Roads makes the drive a lot quicker and
is worth the 40 Euro's in fees.
The postal address for the site is ; Ave le Palmyre 17570 I have used
just the post code and it will be found by most if not all sat nav
systems.
Please note most sat nav systems WILL take you through PARIS , which
although a shorter route is a total nightmare and will add hours to your
journey.
Other options we use is to leave a day early and drive to Angers (170
miles from location) and overnight in a cheap Formulae1 hotel at 33
Euro's per room per night ( sleeps 3 ).
We used them last year and found them very clean and tidy. The
advantage to taking your own car is the extra stuff you can take with
you. The cost of Diesel is slightly cheaper than in the UK and Unleaded
is about the same.
The service stations on the Toll Roads are very clean but the fuel is
more expensive, in the towns at the supermarkets they are a lot cheaper. |
